Three of our most significant ongoing mission projects happen on the church campus. All three offer ongoing volunteer opportunities:
Children’s Corner Pre-School is a daily ministry to preschool children in our community and their parents. The program is designed to help children discover an interest and joy in learning, to nurture children’s spiritual growth, and to foster feelings of security, success, and responsibility. We offer infant care, as well as comprehensive curriculum for older children as they move towards kindergarten. A staff of 18 provides care and instruction on a year-round basis. In addition to maintaining the physical space and covering operational costs not offset by tuition, the church also offers scholarship assistance.
HOPES Kitchen is a weekly ministry in our Family Life Center. Volunteers provide a balanced, hot meal at noon every Saturday. The target population includes, but is not limited to, transients, persons who have no cooking facilities, and those who may feel undernourished and/or seek companionship at mealtime. We also offer showers, some limited amounts of clean clothing, and personal hygiene items.
Youth Education Support (YES) is an after-school tutoring and enrichment program for 6th grade students. YES is staffed entirely by talented and caring volunteers who recognize the need for a safe environment where students can receive educational support. Enrollment is limited; a teacher referral is required for admission to YES. The YES Center is located at 823 North Street on the northeast corner of the church campus.
